“The best marketing investment a company can make”
Praise from a satisfied customer …
Case-study writer Steve Slaunwhite says: “Dollar-for-dollar, case studies are the best marketing investment a company can make.”
A case study — also called a success story or a customer story — is powerful because:
- • It is not a sales pitch but an extended testimonial coming from a satisfied customer
• It engages the reader in the story and experience of how a service or product proved beneficial
A case study is usually written in a journalistic style and includes key quotes from the customer.
It relates the experience of one satisfied customer or client — essentially, ‘Customer X had a serious problem … but solved it by using our product/service.’
Length: Usually one to three pages
Purpose: To promote a product/service, to convince people of its benefits, and to reassure prospects
The typical format is: We had a serious problem, but then we started using this great service (or product), and it has saved us a huge amount of money …
Is this your ‘case study’?
I was/my staff were … spending hours planning and writing up documents … our key work was being neglected … and even then the final drafts were often poorly written and presented, and riddled with errors … we started using a professional copywriter/editor … now we get the work completed in less than half the time … we’ve saved lots of time and lots of money … it has proved hugely cost-effective …
